A Lot of people think that Cosmetic Acupuncture is just about planting needles all over the face but in reality that isn’t what actually happens.” – Dr. Joy

My story

“I was never always an Acupuncturist, when I was in college, I worked as a full-time journalist, working in newspaper, television and I was very much into telling people stories. As a journalist, I got to meet people from all walks of life. Back in 2011, I was involved in a really serious car accident and at that time I was still nursing my son who was 15 months old. I couldn’t turn to take any kind of pharmaceutical medication because whatever I consumed would pass onto my kid as well and a close friend of mine had suggested me to take Acupuncture treatment. Though I didn’t give in at first, I finally gave in later, and after the first session with my Acupuncturist, I noticed the difference though I wasn’t 100% healed. I started asking more questions out of curiosity to my acupuncturist and she answered me from her knowledge in this domain and how she carves out her work-schedule around her children’s schedule. And now after many years, I emulated that type of life for not only myself but to adjust with my patient’s schedule as well.” – Dr. Joy

Morning Lazziness is bringing to you an interview session with Dr. Joy Moy, an Acupuncturist and the founder of the Joy of Acupuncture.

During the conversation, we discussed her journey that took a turning point after an accident, the latest type of Acupuncture treatment, shattering the delusion surrounding Cosmetic Acupuncture, and many more stories.

My Holistic Approach to Acupuncture

“In my Acupuncture practice, I gravitate more towards patients who are suffering in pain because, if you are suffering in pain, be it chronic or acute, it deprives you of the luxury of your life. And Acupuncture is more than just helping with pain, it offers you complete body, mind and spiritual wellness as it not only tends to get to the root of one’s physical problem but also emotional problems. ” – Dr. Joy

Frequency specific microcurrent

“Microcurrent is the latest type of healing; In the past, people had used electro stim( TENS units) which is quite similar to what physical therapist use. Microcurrent seems to work a little better to spread out the vibration a bit further and we can adjust the frequencies much better. And I see my patients healing faster in general with microcurrent than I do with a regular TENS units.” – Dr. Joy

Cosmetic Acupuncture

“A Lot of people think that Cosmetic Acupuncture is just about planting needles all over the face but we actually diagnose the patient from the traditional chinese medical perspective and let’s say the main concern of the patient is the dryness on the skin that maybe closing fine lines around the eyes. After the diagnosis, we accordingly adjust the body points of acupuncture and it isn’t only about the face that concerns but the entire body which gets treated during this course. It takes 10-12 sessions for the patients to really see a difference on their face.” – Dr. Joy
