It’s A Transition, But It’s Not Forever

Life has thrown me many transitory periods in my twenty-four years and while these periods were only temporary, they somehow seemed like they would last forever. Some of these periods included: going through too many irrelevant heartbreaks, finding a job after college, getting fired from my first job, undergoing a traumatic reconstructive nose surgery, working a data entry job out of college that I not only loathed but where I knew my talents were being wasted and adjusting to life in a new country.

Transition is uncomfortable…and that’s ok.

Even when I feel unsure of myself or where I am at, I always remember that transitions are only temporary. They are stepping stones towards something bigger than you have anticipated.  Everything seems far fetched now only because you are only at the beginning! When change is new, everything feels like it will never get better. Trust me that it does and allow yourself time to feel uncomfortable. It’s only temporary.

Find strength in transition.

For better or worse, being thrown out of your comfort zone allows for radical personal growth. It forces you to not only find solutions to problems that you are facing but being thrown out of your comfort zone allows you to find inner strength in yourself. It may take some reflecting, but you are more tenacious than you think.  Give yourself some credit and use your strength to get through this transition.

Give change time.

It may not happen overnight or even in a couple of months, but it will get better.  As I mentioned transitions are not forever.  Everything heals in time. So give yourself time and appreciate this transition. It is only a stepping stone to greater things.
