As part of the Morning Lazziness series about empowering women who encourage and do incredible things with their ideas in society, I had the pleasure of interviewing Vera Oh.

Vera Oh is the Co-Founder and CEO of Voesh New York. With a strong background in product development and a passion for clean beauty, she and her partner launched Voesh in 2013. Since then, they have been committed to creating clean, safe skincare products that set new standards in the beauty industry. Their focus is on delivering high-quality, professional-grade body care solutions that are both effective and accessible for everyday use. Their mission is to provide ethical, innovative skincare that’s beneficial for both consumers and the planet.

Can you share the story behind your journey as an entrepreneur and what inspired you to start your own business?

My journey into the beauty industry began when I noticed a significant gap in the market for clean, professional-grade hand and foot care products. Seeing the need for better solutions, my partner and I launched Voesh New York in 2013, with a clear mission: to create vegan, cruelty-free, and safe skincare products specifically designed for salon professionals. We focused on solving real industry challenges, such as cross-contamination, poor ingredient transparency, and inconsistent portion control. This led to the creation of our patented and signature product, Pedi in a Box® & Mani in a Box®, which quickly became go-to favorites in the professional beauty world.

As Voesh gained recognition in the professional market, we realized there was an exciting opportunity to expand into the consumer space. We wanted to bring the same high-quality, ethical bath and body products to a wider audience, making clean beauty more accessible. Since then, Voesh has won several industry awards and continues to serve both professionals and consumers, remaining dedicated to our commitment to clean, safe, and effective skincare.

What are the unique selling points of the brand?

What challenges have you faced as a woman in the business world, and how have you overcome them?

One of our biggest challenges was launching Voesh into an already saturated and highly competitive market. Standing out was no easy task, but our commitment to clean, targeted professional products helped carve out a space for us. Our focus on solving real issues for both professionals and consumers became our defining edge.

As demand grew, another hurdle was scaling production while maintaining the level of quality we’re known for. This required constant adjustments and improvements to ensure that, even as we grew, our products remained top-notch.

The pandemic brought its own set of obstacles, from disrupted supply chains to rapidly changing consumer behaviors. We had to innovate fast, find creative solutions, and discover new ways to stay connected with our community. While these challenges tested us, they also strengthened our resolve and sharpened our focus.

Today, we’re more committed than ever to delivering clean, ethical beauty solutions that people can trust.
