Synopsis of the Book
It Ends With Us is a well-known heartbreaking novel that leaves the readers in tears of happiness and satisfaction after the read. It revolves around the life of Lily Bloom, a 23-year-old recent graduate who runs a floral shop in Boston, and how it takes a turn after meeting Ryle Kincaid, a brilliant and successful surgeon at the night of her dad’s funeral. Both the characters have had a trauma in the past haunt them in the present and the way they overcame those demons of their past bore the fruits of their present choices.
Domestic violence is the central theme of this novel and Colleen Hoover has portrayed that message in the most brilliant way possible through ‘It Ends With Us’. The title is indeed a perfect caption for this novel, it infuses in every reader a moral ingredient. Another iconic character in this book is Atlas, who is Lily’s friend with whom she shared a memorable past.

Author’s note
This article is very close to my heart as I am an ardent fan of Colleen Hoover’s novels and my favorite has been ‘It Ends With Us’. I was inspired by Lily’s character and the bold decisions she took for her child at the end of the story. It left me in tears but those were from happiness. Along with that, I obtained deep insight into this matter by researching domestic violence statistics, and UN Women programs to support the same.
Since I gained more exposure to this topic by volunteering for an organization called Riverview Centre that works towards providing free medical and legal advocacy to survivors of domestic violence, I would like to dedicate this writing to them in appreciation of their efforts.
