Turning 30 is a milestone for many young people. The BIG 3-0 marks a major shift for millennials as they transition from 20-something nomads to (hopefully) established adults. However, this transformation does not happen overnight.
It is a gradual development that occurs slowly during the growth phase. Our nearly 20 years include an assortment of experimentation, trial and error, and error. We learn many important lessons and set different goals along the way. In truth, our twenties, a defining decade, prepared us for our established future selves.
Since we plan to reach our thirties one day, there are important goals that everyone should achieve, some of which require deep discovery. It takes time, perseverance, and self-confidence to achieve these goals.
1. Upgrade your wardrobe. (Something Unexpected)
A lot will change as you cross your 30s. Your personality, your thoughts, your outlook towards life…your clothes need to catch up with all that amazing growth that you’re on to. So take some time to upgrade your wardrobe, explore clothes that you’d normally avoid, add more variety or go minimal in your approach but upgrade and embrace change. Pro Tip: Take some good inspiration from Kate Middleton or hire a personal fashion stylist!
2. Learn to cook. (Something Fun)
Until now, you have probably only dabbled in cooking. To some degree, all 20-year-olds have. We’re used to heating up ramen noodles and sticking greasy grilled cheese sandwiches in our bedrooms. But after graduating from college and moving into your own house, you need to start cooking something real.
By the time you’re in your 30s, you should be comfortable making dinner from scratch following a recipe. No, this dinner should not be served in a cardboard box or to-go container. Instead, learn how to make pasta dishes, grilled chicken, and steamed vegetables from scratch.
You don’t have to be a sous chef to master the art of cooking. Simply get the basic recipe and modify it to your liking.

3. Learn to listen to your body. (Something Satisfying)
It’s important to understand your body before you turn 30. In fact, you should find out about your health much sooner, but we’re going to cut you some slack! Your health is one of the most important things, if not the most important, in your life- without good health, your body cannot do anything.
You need to know the dangerous aspects of being sick and ensure you take good care of yourself. Observe your body regularly, and understand the major difference between severe cramps and general pain. Don’t leave areas of pain or discomfort unnoticed for too long because It is the only body you have.
Daily exercise has many long-term health benefits. Whether it’s yoga, walking, running, lifting weights, or any other activity you enjoy, use a rapid muscle recovery tool to help you bounce back after your workout.
4. Finish your studies. (Something Creative)
Not everyone can graduate in their twenties, but make it a priority. Returning to school later in life is never impossible, but it is more of a challenge for many. Balancing work, family, stress, money, and college can be a burden for some adults. It may be too heavy.
If college isn’t the right path for you, there are plenty of other ways to continue your education outside of school. Learning platforms like Skillshare, Coursera, and Udemy offer many valuable courses and learning opportunities that you can benefit from.

5. Create an emergency fund. (Something Mandatory)
Building an emergency fund is high on the list of the many financial goals every adult should set. You never know what may happen.
Life is unpredictable, and as such, it can lead you into financial trouble. So whether your car breaks down and needs maintenance, or you get laid off from your job and can’t pay your bills, you need a place to stash some cash.
Start with the goal of saving enough money for three months. Then, if you can afford to save more, do so. We hope you never have to use it, but we recommend you save it for rainy days.Â
Takeaway!
As your 30th birthday approaches, you must set goals. We set goals so that we can set new goals for ourselves once we reach them. This is the beautiful cycle of goal setting. Once you’ve reached your short-term and long-term goals, don’t forget to create new ones. It will ensure you are always growing.
