What’s the purpose of it all?
What’s my purpose?
If you find yourself constantly thinking about questions like these, good for you. I’m guessing this means you are thinking beyond trivial pursuits in life.
If you find these questions keeping you up at night, well, that’s not so good, and most likely, you are feeling some distress, unease, and maybe even a bit of paralysis in moving forward in life until you can figure it out.
What if instead of trying to figure out your purpose, you instead focused on living each day with purpose?
By setting an intention each day, and even with each person you meet, you will find fulfillment on a daily basis.
I imagine if you are asking this question, you are on a journey of some kind. Maybe it’s a journey of personal or spiritual development, and undoubtedly this question will come up.
In fact, it may be one of the most important questions you can ask yourself. However, I also believe that if you focus on a singular purpose, you might be wasting a lot of precious time living your life, and you might never find the answer to it.
Your life story is filled with so many different chapters.
Chapter one is birth, and the final chapter is death. But all the chapters in between are about LIVING and the journey involved.
How boring would a book be if it just had one singular storyline? For example, I am a mother.
If my only purpose was to be a mother, my story really wouldn’t begin until I got pregnant and would most likely end the day my son moved out of the house. Even though those years were meaningful and full of ups and downs, it really wouldn’t make for much of a story, would it? And what do I do with my purpose for the rest of the days of my life?
I had a life before being a mother, and some of those chapters are really great ones. And I have a life after raising my son, and I hope to make those pretty amazing as well.
If I adopted motherhood as my purpose, I believe I would be living a very lonely and depressing life for the rest of my days. I would be feeling like my life purpose had been fulfilled, leaving me now feeling very purpose-less. How sad that many people feel this way.
My point is that sometimes we get caught up in a “singular” purpose, and that keeps us from enjoying and living each day with purpose and passion.
By shifting your focus to living your life on purpose or purpose, you can experience so much more in life and share with the rest of the world.
You have the ability to start each day, each week, each month, and each year with intention.
As a result, you can add deep meaning to whatever you do and say.
You can choose to live a life of adventure or slow down and commune with nature. Also, you can serve your community and the world with your knowledge, wisdom, love, and compassion. You can bring life and meaning to all you choose to say and do.
By choosing to live your life on purpose, you are well on your way to writing a life story that is guaranteed to be a bestseller.
