As a part of the Morning Lazziness series about NFT women who are encouraging and doing incredible things with their ideas in society, I had the pleasure of interviewing Kayla Kane.

My name is Kay and I’m a part of the Marketing side of the Holaplex team. I’ve been with the team since the very beginning of last June 2021! I am also a co-founder of @womeninnfts mostly on the Discord side which was founded last fall in 2021. Women In NFT’s main goal is to connect women & LGBTQ+ to others within the NFT ecosystem and help develop deeper relationships as well as provide resources.
Can you share a story with us about what brought you to this specific career path?
Before Holaplex I knew nothing about crypto or NFTs and was actually dancing ballet professionally. I have started a couple of my own businesses as well as worked with a venture technology company which have both led me down the marketing path and I have a specialty in Social Media Marketing & Content Creation/Management.
What messages do you want to give to society with this Holaplex NFT Marketplace?
You can do it. Anybody can now take control of their art and their lives through these Web3 tools. Holaplex’s goal is to bring permissionless un-gated tools to the public so that anybody can follow their dreams.

What do you think could be the future of NFT? How useful can they be for everyone?
NFTs can really be anything you want them to be. It’s the technology that they are built on which is ultimately going to be what changes lives. With NFTs on the blockchain, we can eliminate the need for any middlemen, take control, and take action.
How people can get a profit through this Holaplex NFT Marketplace?
With our Marketplace product, anybody can set their own transaction fees. This means that you can set what you receive from marketplace actions. If you are operating as a DAO, the proceeds can be distributed to the DAO treasury.
The future of the digital world might be ruled by blockchain and cryptocurrency. Do you think it would be challenging for all age groups to gain knowledge about the same? How can we educate them?
Initial adoption is never easy but I believe the more Web3 companies can partner with schools, programs, as well as the media to educate all age groups, over time, people will see the value. The more success we see with the ecosystem as well the more we can push it out to the noncrypto audience.
What are some upcoming programs you hope to launch this year?
Holaplex is coming out with some very exciting integrations with ecosystem partners over the next few months – stay tuned! One of the greatest things about being open-source is that we can work with teams all over the world to improve the ecosystem. We are also working on improving our Marketplace product as well as the social side of the platform. Expect to see the following capabilities added as well as a full-on NFT activity feed! Think Instagram but with NFTs.
Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
To be completely honest… I have no idea. The future of NFTs and Web3 is still very unknown which keeps things interesting. Whatever happens, I know no matter what I’ll be continuing to support women in tech and doing my part to push technology forward.
Who are your top 5 Women in NFT inspiration?
Narrowing it down to a Top 5 is extremely difficult because of all the AMAZING women in web3! I’m constantly inspired by my fellow women of Holaplex – Anja Bedford, Belle, and Brittany Bostick. I also admire my fellow co-founders of Women In NFTs: LDF, Isabella Arnao, Meghan McWilliams, and Abi.
Lastly, what do you think this world needs the most?
After Covid-19 kept our society apart for 2+ years, the world needs community more than ever. People have been craving connection and that’s ultimate, in my opinion, why Web3 is coming at such an amazing time.
