Here’s what we found out about Dr. Angela’s daily routine, followed by an exclusive Q+A.
1. What inspired you to become an entrepreneur, and what sparked the idea for your business?
My father was an entrepreneur, and not only did he share his love of architecture with me, but he also instilled in me an entrepreneurial spirit. Growing up, I saw firsthand the dedication, creativity, and resilience it took to build something meaningful. His influence shaped my own vision, teaching me that entrepreneurship isn’t just about business—it’s about leaving a legacy and creating opportunities for others.
With that, my entrepreneurial journey was inspired by a deep desire to share my faith, empower others, particularly women, to embrace their purpose, and to trust their faith along the way. I saw a need for accessible guidance that combined spiritual principles with actionable strategies for personal and professional growth. My business was born from this vision: to create spaces—whether through counseling, media platforms, or public speaking—where faith-centered individuals could thrive and transform their lives.
2. As a woman navigating the business world, what challenges have you faced, and how did you overcome them?
One significant challenge has been overcoming preconceived notions about what women can achieve, especially in faith-centered leadership roles. I’ve faced situations where my voice wasn’t immediately valued, but I leaned on my faith, resilience, and the support of my community to persevere.
As a young person starting out, navigating these challenges can be frustrating, but I realized that someone has to be the first and the next in order for others to follow. Taking that perspective motivated me to keep moving forward. It was a reminder that the work I do today sets the stage for future generations. Let your work speak for you—it’s a powerful way to break barriers and set new standards.
By staying true to my mission and letting the quality of my work speak for itself, I’ve been able to shift perceptions and build lasting respect in my field.
3. How do you balance the demands of running a business with maintaining a healthy personal life?
Balance is an ongoing journey, but I prioritize my spiritual and mindset practices, such as affirmations, and intentional morning and evening gratitude journaling. I also choose to think of it as creating personal harmony instead of balance. Setting clear boundaries, delegating tasks, and taking Fridays for flexibility helps me stay grounded while giving my best to my work and family. My faith reminds me to trust the process and make time for rest and reflection.
4. Which networking strategies have most effectively built meaningful connections within your industry?
I don’t approach networking from the perspective of “are you worthy?” Instead, I focus on how we can be of service to each other. This mindset ensures that I stay grounded in collaboration and mutual respect. It’s essential to recognize the inherent value in everyone’s contribution. Every business and industry holds value for those who need it; the key is to find where we fit. Approaching networking this way transforms connections into lasting relationships built on authenticity and shared goals.
Authenticity is key. By focusing on building genuine relationships through shared values and common goals, the relationship with always be appreciated.
Attending faith-centered events, participating in women’s leadership summits, and leveraging my media platforms to spotlight others’ work have also been particularly effective. Networking is more than exchanging business cards; it’s about creating partnerships that align with my mission and serve a greater purpose.
5. How do you approach mentorship, and how has it shaped your entrepreneurial path?
Mentorship, for me, is about embodying the principles you teach. I firmly believe that you must live out your purpose and align your actions with your words. It’s not enough to preach it—you have to teach it, and more importantly, live it! Every mentor and mentee is on a journey, aspiring
toward their next level. Whether it’s reaching new heights or maintaining their current position, the commitment to growth and integrity remains vital. Do the work; let your life be an example of your teachings.
So, I approach mentorship as both a mentor and a mentee. I believe in the power of mutual growth. Learning from those ahead of me has been invaluable, and mentoring others has reinforced my own knowledge and purpose. This dual role keeps me inspired and rooted in the idea that success is meant to be shared.
6. What strategies have worked best for selling your products and reaching your ideal customers?
Storytelling has been a cornerstone of my sales strategy. Whether through books, podcasts, or speaking engagements, I connect with my audience by sharing relatable experiences and offering solutions rooted in faith and practicality. Creating value-driven content and fostering trust have been essential for attracting and retaining my ideal customers.
Going live on social platforms has been an incredible way to do just that – connect with my audience. It allows people to see the real, unfiltered version of me, which fosters trust and relatability. When someone can interact with you in real time, it makes your message feel tangible and your presence more authentic. It’s an approach that has consistently built meaningful relationships and expanded my reach.
7. Which marketing techniques have been most successful for your business, and how do you track their performance?
Social media and content marketing have been game-changers for reaching a global audience. These platforms allow me to connect personally and professionally. I use analytics tools to track engagement, conversions, and audience growth, ensuring my strategies remain effective and aligned with my goals.
8. Can you share a significant setback in your business journey and the steps you took to overcome it?
Dealing with breast cancer has been the most significant setback in my journey. Not only did I face personal and physical challenges, but I also had to rebuild my practice entirely from the ground up. The second time felt more daunting because I had memories of what I’d built before. However, with determination, faith, and a commitment to my mission, I overcame it. That experience taught me the importance of perseverance and relying on faith during life’s most difficult seasons.
9. What’s the most important advice you’d give to women just starting their entrepreneurial journey?
Good question! I would say to women starting their entrepreneurial journey:
● Start with a clear purpose rooted in your passions and values. Your purpose is your foundation. Knowing what drives you and aligning it with your values will give you the clarity and focus needed to stay the course when challenges arise.
● Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Entrepreneurship is not a solo journey. Building a network of mentors, peers, and supporters will provide you with wisdom, encouragement, and resources along the way.
● Build your network. Meaningful relationships are the backbone of success. Attend events, join communities, and don’t hesitate to reach out to others whose missions align with yours.
● Invest in your personal growth. Your business will grow only as much as you do. Take time for self-development through books, workshops, and faith-centered practices. A stronger you equals a stronger business.
10. Is there a mantra or quote that guides your actions and decision-making as an entrepreneur?
There are 4 passages that are my foundation. My paternal grandmother used to remind the family as a whole – “To whom much is given, much is required” (Luke 12:48). This scripture not only reminds me of her but also that my gifts, opportunities, and responsibilities are blessings meant to serve others. It keeps me focused on leading with purpose and staying true to the values that guide my work.
Then there’s my life scripture, Jeremiah 29:11, which reminds me that God has a plan for my life, thus the future is bright. Next is Habakkuk 2:2, which inspires me to write the vision and make it plain. This encourages me to be ever-present and active in making things come to life; no stagnation for me. Additionally, Dr. Maya Angelou’s quote, “We are more alike, my friend than we are unalike,” deeply resonates with me. These guiding words keep me grounded in my faith, vision, and humanity, ensuring I lead with intention and inclusivity.
