Can you share the story behind your journey as an entrepreneur and what inspired you to start your own business?

Absolutely. Thanks for having me. My entrepreneurial journey began in 2003 when I discovered my passion for helping others through teaching yoga and facilitating mindset shifts. The catalyst for launching Exquisitely Aligned was my family’s experience during a challenging health crisis. In 2009, my husband, Mark, fell seriously ill, and I had to navigate the complexities of the healthcare system to secure his life-saving double-organ transplant. This experience fueled my desire to ensure no one ever feels alone or overwhelmed, as I once did. Through Exquisitely Aligned, I guide others to realize their dreams and stand firm in creating their most magnificent future.  Exquisitely Aligned offers people a 3-step proven system, a personalized soul-shifting concierge experience designed to empower individuals to discover their “more” and live with purpose.

In 2017, I launched Blissed-Out, Fit, and Feisty, LLC, focusing on holistic services for body, mind, and soul. As the visionary behind Exquisitely Aligned, I created this 3-step system offering a personalized soul-shifting concierge experience to help high achievers align their time, money, and energy with their true purpose.

What challenges have you faced as a woman in the business world, and how have you overcome them?

Earlier in my career, particularly in the fashion industry, I faced challenges that women today might find hard to imagine. The “Me Too” movement has helped, but before that, comments like, “Why aren’t you barefoot and pregnant?” were not uncommon. As an Italian New Yorker living in the South, my initial reaction was anger, but I chose to stand my ground calmly. I’ve learned that not everyone will understand or respect your journey, and that’s okay. Your purpose is bigger than any narrow-minded judgment you might encounter. Today, I see these moments as opportunities to reinforce my resolve and commitment to my mission.

How do you balance your professional and personal life as an entrepreneur?

Balance is key, and it’s something I teach my clients as well. In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to get off-kilter. For me, mini-breaks are essential. Living in sunny Southern California, I start my day with tea in the yard, watching hawks and dragonflies—a ritual that recharges me. These breaks keep me focused and energized, allowing me to be fully present with my family at dinner and on weekends when we paddleboard or walk along the beach. Knowing what keeps you grounded and in your flow is more valuable than any supplement.

What strategies have you found most effective for networking and building connections in your industry?

My husband, who is my opposite in this regard, admired how I could enter a room full of strangers and see the potential for making new friends. I find people fascinating, and I love discovering what makes them come alive. When you approach networking with authenticity and transparency, it becomes easier to form genuine connections that last.

How do you approach mentorship and seek guidance in your entrepreneurial journey?

Investing in one-on-one mentorship has been a game-changer for me. After spending time and money on group courses and coaching, I realized that the real value came from working directly with someone who is aligned with my vision. This personalized approach helped me elevate my business, particularly when I launched the Exquisitely Aligned Concierge Experience. It allowed me to design a business model that deeply aligns with my gifts and passion for helping others accelerate their progress.

Can you talk about a specific setback or failure you’ve experienced in your business and how you bounced back from it?

Setbacks are inevitable, but they’re also opportunities for growth. I’ve had financial decisions and hires that didn’t pan out, yet I view these as part of the entrepreneurial journey. When setbacks occur, I take time to recap and regroup. I ask myself what I learned, what I’d do differently, and how this experience better prepares me for the future. These moments of discomfort ultimately make us more resilient, like a diamond formed under pressure.

In what ways do you prioritize diversity and inclusion within your company or startup?

Diversity and inclusion are deeply personal to me. My family’s immigrant roots—from Italy and Germany, my husband from England, and our daughter born in Guatemala—have shaped my worldview. Growing up in a diverse community in Long Island, NY, was a privilege that continues to influence how I approach everything I do.

How do you stay motivated and resilient during tough times in your business?

My fascination with diamonds has always inspired me. My father taught me as a pre-teen to look through a loupe to see a diamond’s imperfections, explaining how they are formed under extreme pressure. This understanding has motivated me knowing that pressure can create something beautiful and enduring.

What advice would you give to other aspiring women entrepreneurs who are just starting out?

My advice is simple: stop focusing on your competition and start listening to your heart and soul. Invest time and energy in understanding your unique gifts and talents, then go deep into what you truly desire. When you align with your purpose, you become unstoppable. People will be drawn to you, not because of what you offer, but because of who you are and how you embody your passion. If you feel stuck or want to quicken the pace, invest in a mentor. Feel free to reach out to me. I love hearing from people!

What is one quote you live by that has guided you in your entrepreneurial journey?

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” –Eleanore Roosevelt

Can you share a memorable success or milestone that you’ve achieved in your entrepreneurial career?

I’ve just completed my book, “Exquisitely Aligned: The Pocket Guide to Your Magnificent Future.” It’s something I’ve wanted to do for years, and the timing finally felt right. The book will begin pre-selling in October 2024!
