As a part of the Morning Lazziness series about empowering women who are encouraging and doing incredible things with their ideas in society, I had the pleasure of interviewing Kim Carruthers – Celebrity Pilates Instructor And Wellness Coach.
KC Body was selected by NBC as one of the top Women-owned brands of 2021. Her Activewear Brand has become a favorite of Hollywood actresses and A-listers.Â
Many thanks for doing this for us; please let our users know about yourself and your workout KC Method app?
The KC Method app gives fitness enthusiasts or those that are new to Pilates the opportunity to work out with me anywhere or anytime. I really wanted to create an organic app that would allow everyone the opportunity to experience the KC Method.
Why did you choose to become a pilates instructor?
I started my career as a professional dancer in Newyork City, performing with several major dance companies, and during this time, I began to experience overuse injuries. As a way to heal my body, I studied the Pilates method several times a week, and it became my new love. Pilates gave me a healthy body and a healthy mind, and I decided to become a Pilates teacher to help others find healing through movement.Â
If not this, then what other career option would you have preferred?
If I wasn’t a Pilates teacher, I would probably be a full-time activewear designer. Designing activewear and fitness gear for my brand KC Body is one of my passions.
After the pandemic, it has seen an urge among people to stay fit and healthy; what’s your take on it?
During and after the pandemic, I believe that people learned that moving is healing not just physically but also mentally.
Do you think working women somewhere neglect their health?
I don’t believe that working women intentionally neglect their health. I believe that working women work very hard to prove themselves in the workforce and may not have the time and or energy that is required to take on a fitness regimen and or program.
How do you keep yourself motivated and humble throughout the day?
After being a Pilates studio owner for 25 plus years, I have learned that motivation, fearlessness, and humility are keys to having a successful business. I look to some of the female fitness pioneers and business entrepreneurs that have inspired me to continue to pursue my goals.Â
One morning habit of yours that makes you productive?
My morning ritual to keep me grounded and productive is opening up my bedroom windows as soon as I wake up. It’s something about sunlight and the smell of fresh air that really gets my day going!

How can someone get the motivation to start exercising?
Getting motivated to do an exercise program isn’t the easiest thing to do. I suggest that you set an intention and grab a buddy!
It’s said that the quickest way to take the fun out of doing something is to do it for a living. How do you keep from changing something you love into something you dread? How do you keep it fresh and enjoyable?
Lastly, what does success mean to you?
Success means to me being proud and fulfilled with what I have created and that my contributions positively impact and change people’s lives!Â
Thank you for these fantastic insights. We greatly appreciate the time you spent on this.
