As a part of the Morning Lazziness series about empowering women who are encouraging and doing incredible things with their ideas in society, I had the pleasure of interviewing Sherry Kelly.
Founded by Sherry Kelly, a dedicated hairstylist with a rich experience spanning 20+ years in the industry, Caruso Valore is more than just a brand; it’s a testament to the power of personal experiences in shaping global solutions. The inception of Caruso Valore was deeply rooted in My personal challenges. Living with asthma and breathing issues, Sherry was all too familiar with the detrimental effects of harsh chemicals present in many beauty products. This not only compromised health but often stood as a barrier to accessing quality hair and skin care.
Recognizing the broader implications of this problem and driven by a desire to create solutions, I embarked on a mission to formulate products that bridged the gap between luxury and safety. Caruso Valore’s distinctive edge lies in its dedication to natural and botanical extracts, ensuring each product is as gentle on the skin and hair as it is on the environment.
But the brand’s principles don’t stop at nature-centric formulations. With Sherry’s hands-on experience in the world of hairstyling, Caruso Valore boasts of expertise that ensures each product is not just kind to the senses but also remarkably effective. It’s a seamless blend of nature’s purity with professional finesse.
Today, Caruso Valore stands as a beacon for those seeking an escape from harmful chemicals without compromising on the luxurious experience and tangible results. It’s not just a brand; it’s a movement towards cleaner, greener, and more conscious beauty choices.
Here’s what we found out about Sherry’s everyday routine, followed by an exclusive Q+A.
Many thanks for doing this for us, please let our users know about yourself and your inspirational journey.
Caruso Valore offers a luxurious, botanical hair and skin care line. Having been in the industry for over 2 decades with a personal understanding of the industry’s challenges, it’s been my mission to cater to the discerning woman who values quality and health over harsh chemicals.
What inspired you to start your own beauty-related business, and what is the mission or purpose behind it?

How do you differentiate your beauty brand or services from competitors in the market?

Could you share some of the unique challenges you’ve faced as a woman entrepreneur in the beauty industry and how you’ve overcome them?
This is a long ended question as I am still facing challenges along the way. Example being who to trust, who to delegate what facet of the journey that shares my vision and passion. But I think the biggest challenge would be not to give up on myself before I make a difference in someone’s personal, health and beauty part of their life.
What strategies have you used to stay updated on the latest beauty trends, technologies, and product innovations in your field?
I have worked in several salons over the years and then on my own, and during that time, I have tried many product lines offered. Going to beauty shows with continuing education, I figured out that I still had no CONTROL over what products I was using on my clients and in my environment. Not only for my own breathing struggles but also because I love to learn and help endangered species in our oceans, and the products we use every day can have an effect on that as well as on our person. So I have learned who to align myself with to further educate myself on what ingredients and choices to utilize in the battle of providing products that not only are effective but provide choices to those that have the same health, hair, skin, and other types of struggles and concerns.
How do you balance the demands of running a beauty business with maintaining a strong online and social media presence?
Well, now there is the million-dollar question! Time management is an understatement, and I, again, still in the process of learning how to delegate what message and product and vision I want out there, so I guess my answer is having a family that is understanding and supportive of the journey I chose to achieve this passion.
What advice do you have for other women looking to break into the beauty industry and start their own ventures?
My advice would be to stay true to your vision and do your research. Never be one to say you know everything you need to know because life is a never-ending journey of learning. Also, if you want something bad enough, only YOU can make it happen with determination and patience with the process and yourself.
What would you say are the top 3 skills needed to be a successful entrepreneur, and why?
Patience, Time dedication, oh, and did I mention patience.
How do you ensure that your products or services cater to a diverse range of customers and address their unique beauty needs?
I am a salon owner and operator so I am committed to not only myself, but to use all my products on me, my family and my clientele. All of whom I have used to fine-tune the line I have currently, and LEARN more as I go by asking questions and getting and accepting feedback to further better the line or the process itself.
Can you share some of your most successful marketing and branding strategies that have helped your beauty business grow?
Up to this point, my most successful marketing and branding is “in person” and hands on. I have many other avenues as far as online ordering and online presence that are in the early developmental growth stage…
What is your vision for the future of your beauty business, and how do you plan to adapt to evolving industry trends and consumer preferences?
My vision is to be successful in not just the Sales part of creating a business but to truly help others that have hair and skin challenges. From hair/skin type, texture, and weather effects, to environmental wants/needs that are important to them.
How do you give back to your community or support other women in the beauty industry, and why is this important to you?
Along with the vision for the future goal, I had thought about using any successes to create some type of foundation for those that have the same breathing struggles that I have dealt with. What was thought to be asthma for 16 years was not…After years of doctors, Mayo Clinic, and medications, the true diagnosis I learned is often misdiagnosed as asthma due to its present symptoms. I would like to save others from possibly avoiding all that one may have to endure unnecessarily and with no relief only to possibly never find out it wasn’t asthma at all..(This is just a thought that I still have much more to research and learning to do about how to go about such a task).
