When You Should See A Gynecologist?

Not everyone is concerned with regard to their overall health. Not everyone would take the time to go to the dentist every six months for a routine cleaning or a general practitioner for an extensive checkup.

Women also forego going to a gynecologist if they are not in pain or if not trying to get pregnant. This should not be the case.

To have a healthy reproductive system from early adulthood, a visit to a gynecologist is a must. This is necessary to diagnose any serious health condition, especially those with family history, and for preventive care.

You Must See A Gynecologist When You Become Sexually Active

When you become sexually active, you become at risk for any sexually transmitted infections and diseases. This is the best time to visit a Gynecologist to keep you protected at all costs from these serious maladies. If you had unprotected sex, you need to be tested.

Even if you are sure that your partner is clean, it could not hurt to be doubly sure. Don’t let accidents worsen into a situation where your health is compromised. If there is bleeding after intercourse, this is also considered a red flag and must be communicated with a gynecologist.

You Should See A Gynecologist When You Feel Any Unusual Pain

When we feel pain, it’s our body’s way of telling us that something is wrong. When we feel pain in our genital area or any body part included in our reproductive system, no matter how mild it is, if it’s the first time we are feeling it, we should be concerned.

It might be nothing, but since endometrial, cervical, and ovarian cancer is among the types of cancer that women are at high risk of, we should be wary of any pain we feel, no matter how tolerable.

You Must See A Gynecologist If You Are Planning To Get Pregnant

Most women only see an obstetrician-gynecologist when they are already pregnant. Even before conceiving, it is recommended that you already have an Ob-Gyn who is aware of your reproductive health.

There is a chance of high-risk pregnancy and if your Ob-Gyn is already briefed of your condition. They could guide you through conceiving, pregnancy, and delivery to ensure that you and your baby are safe and well taken care of.

You Should See A Gynecologist every year

To keep ourselves safe from the risk of breast cancer and other types of diseases that target the female reproductive system, we should yearly visit a gynecologist for pelvic exams, pap smear tests, and breast exams. By doing so, we are updated on our reproductive health.

A gynecologist is one of the essential specialized doctors that we must see on an annual basis and/or become sexually active. When we feel any unusual pain and when we plan to conceive.

Having a doctor who is briefed on our reproductive health would improve our chances of being healthy and free from any serious conditions.
